Domaine J. Laurens
Domaine J. Laurens is specialized in sparkling wine production. Like in Champagne, the wine-grower uses the “Méthode Traditionnelle” to produce different wines and appellations: Blanquette de Limoux, Crémant de Limoux, and Limoux rosé.
In the early 1980s, a specialist from Champagne understood the potential of Limoux sparkling wines, and he decided to create Domaine Laurens. He brought with him the technical skills and discipline essential for the production of refreshing, light sparkling wines.
The estate is located in the Languedoc-Roussillon, in the heart of Cathar country, close to La Digne d’Aval and La Digne d’Amont, less than five kilometers away from Limoux. The climate of this region is influenced by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
Today, Domaine Laurens stretches over 25 hectares on the terroir around Autan. The vineyard was planted with great care: Mauzac and Chenin are located on moderately fertile, stony, clay-limestone slopes and terraces but with regular water supply, and Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are in deep, fertile soils with sufficient water.
