Château Mignan

Château Mignan Château Mignan

The Minervois wine-making area is located at the bottom of the Monatgne Noire between Narbonne and Carcassonne. Thanks to all the different terraces, this area is made of a range of various soils. This soil variety produces, in one appellation, some fruity, easy-drinking wines on one side and well-constituted wines on the other side, such as wines from the upper terraces from Minervois La Livinière.

Château Mignan is located in this upper terrace area, in the village of Siran, between Pépieux and La Livinière villages. The Family vineyard is made of 16 hectares, including 7 with Minervois La Livinière Appellation. The grapes mainly come from Syrah, Grenache and old Carignan vines. Deep Clay and Limestone soils, with top layer “gravettes”, allow hydric reserves during winter. The vines will absorb this water little by little during the vegetative time. This means that the plant will not suffer from any hydric stress and ripening will occur in good conditions.

The red wines are vinified according to traditional methods, with gentle but present extractions, rather long vatting and reasonable ageing.  A particular attention is paid to white wines (mainly Grenache blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne and Vermentino) with night harvest and stirring on fine lees to get freshness, richness and roundness.

Since 2012, all the wines from Château Mignan have been certified organic.
