Domaine Lequin Colin
This is a small winery of only 9 hectares nestled in the town of Santenay, the southern gateway to Burgundy. At Domaine René Lequin-Colin you will be introduced to the traditional Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that have been cultivated by the family since 1679, yet with a contemporary flare. The vineyards, owned and managed today by Francois Lequin, comprise a diverse portfolio from throughout the Burgundian valley: Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Pommard and Nuits Saint Georges. There is also some Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru and red Corton Grand Cru.
In 2009 Francois Lequin began conversion to organic culture, and by 2010 also introduced some biodynamic practices. Since 2012, all their wines have been certified organic.
Grapes are hand-picked. Their philosophy for winemaking is to use contemporary methods while retaining respect for tradition. The wines are aged in 100% French Oak, with about 20% new barrels. “The focus in our wines is on the fruit, freshness and complexity. You can drink our wines young with fresh fruit flavors or age them in your cellar for more powerful matured nuances.”
